How it Began
The Earth Candy Market began as a small farm-stand and since these humble origins, has grown into a small scale farm store. Our broad range of organic products gives customers the convenience of picking up other staples while they shop for their local produce. Year-round operation allows affordable food access to be maintained outside of the main growing season. Our market draws many people, not only to shop for their weekly groceries but also to connect with the natural beauty of our farm and to be inspired by where their food comes from.
What we sell
From March through November we proudly offer our own homegrown fruit, vegetables, flowers, meats. Alongside this we sell a variety of produce, sourced from other farms on Salt Spring, as well as certified organic farms in the lower mainland and the Okanagan. We have formed wonderful relationships with other organic family farms in BC and it is a pleasure to offer their specialty items such as cherries and stone fruit to our Salt Spring customers.
One of our keys to success is year-round operation, which we achieve by working with fair-trade, organic wholesalers to bring in out of season produce, filling the baskets of our customers when there are few local crops.
To compliment the selection of produce, we provide customers with organic, ingredients-based, whole foods. This list includes foods such as hulled BC buckwheat, Saskatchewan Lentils, Vancouver Island grown red fife heritage wheat, BC hulless oat groats and the so on. We also offer a variety of dried fruit, canned fruit, and other pantry staples such as honey, olive oil and more.
